Hello There!

My name is Holly, and I have a love for all things home...decorating, cooking, antiquing, re-purposing, DIY-ing (is that a term?!).  I have been a Realtor, an Ethan Allen Design Consultant, an Interior Decorator...if  the task involves homes and decorating, I'm all over it!  For me, pillows and soft-goods have always been the ultimate decorating tools.  They add coziness, personality, color, pattern and overall interest to each and every room of the home.  They can be swapped out with the changing mood or season, and can satisfy your craving for change without breaking the bank.  No room in my home is ever completely "done", because what is the fun in that?  Change is good, and there's always room for room-improvement...a little tweak here, a little furniture rearrangement there, a new pillow or two, and voila, mini room makeover!

I live on Boston's beautiful North Shore with my husband (high school sweethearts!), 2 teen daughters and our cuddly Cavalier-Spaniel mix.  We have lived in New England for over 16 years & absolutely love exploring each of the beautiful seaside towns that surround us.  In 2011 on a weekend trip to Ogunquit, Maine we stopped into the gallery of an artist that we both admired.  After speaking with the artist for over an hour about his methods and making a living as a creative professional, we felt inspired and invigorated.  It made us start to think seriously about being able to make our artistic outlets a form of income rather than just something we did during our limited free time.  After years of trial and error with designs, textures and materials The Salty Cottage has evolved into what it is today - a fresh mix of graphic designer pillows, inspired by New England, made by hand with nearly all American-made materials, in my studio in the heart of Beverly's Arts District.

Since 2015 I have been making all of my pillows in my Cabot Street studio in the downtown Beverly Arts District.  Over the years, The Salty Cottage has grown from a one person operation to a small team of local artisans and artist interns that work from their homes or alongside of me in the studio.  My original designs can be found online directly from my website, at my studio at 110 Cabot Street in Beverly, or at select boutique retailers throughout the United States.
